Okay. First of all, thanks to all for your messages. I feel really fortunate to have the car in my possession, and it has been a real joy to own (for a day and a half so far)! Can't wait for all of you to be able to take your own home ASAP!

Now. Pictures.

I have taken quite a few pictures of the PE trying to get as much as possible. As far as I can tell, the color captured in most of these pictures is fairly close to the actual rosso (that is to say, it's a better example than most pictures you'll find out there), but the actual color is just a bit brighter and a bit richer than most JPEG files can handle. Also, Gavin. I used my hat and key as a point of reference for the trunk. I know it's not ideal, but it beats using my camera bag, since those could be any size. Here's the link:

https://picasaweb.google.com/116487955511388613315/Fiat500PrimaEdizione?authkey=Gv1sRgCO3Uj9fLkP2K-gE&feat=directlink

I have to say this. I LOVE the graphite bezel. I never thought those words would come out of my mouth (or in this case, my keyboard?) It looks so elegant, and sporty with the red exterior, and just gives the Prima Edizione a very unique, and upscale personality. This car oozes character.

On the drive home from the dealer (5 miles away) I was stopped 3 times by people wanting to know more about the car. It was a little bit crazier that night when I decided to drive up Hollywood Blvd. to my friend's house. Let's just say that with the amount of attention that I was getting, I feel better about my decision to spend the extra money on LoJack for the car.

Anyway, best of luck to all! Hope you can get your cars soon!!

I think we are feeding into each other’s frustration.  Almost certainly THIS MONTH we will all get our Primas.
We most likely will love and enjoy them.

But, yes there were some foul-ups by Fiat, no doubt.
sjmst,

Since you started this thread, thought I contribute my 2 cents on this. The Fiat boys at MVLA (our local dealership here in LA) felt the frustration. Word has it that Fiat did send out a guideline how the Fiat specialists should handle the Primas and the eventual non-Primas customers.

But guess what? Not all dealerships follow the guidelines. So it comes a point when you show up (or call in) to the Chrysler dealership, any tom, dick, harry wants a piece of the Fiat pie. The confusion thus started when phone calls about Fiat should have been forwarded to these two blokes and instead, ended up to other non-Fiat sales people. I reckon, I may have misread it, that was why a non-PE car was released in the East Coast.

Just today, a Chrysler rep said he has no idea why there is such a craze over a $20k car. The flip side of that comment is "hey, I want a piece of the commission too though I am not a trained Fiat specialist!".

According to the guideline, Fiat wants the ultimate experience for Fiat owners. But the Fiat rep I spoke wished it could be better if and only if the REST of the dealership works with the guidelines as well.

I will be a writing a letter and snail mail it to Laura Soave. And I encourage everyone to do it. Let her know our experiences so far and what could be improved. The wait, the uncertainty, the so called diminishing exclusivity of owning a PE etc.

Sam, I agree, great captures of the red paint, I'm definitely leaning towards the red myself maybe yellow but that red is just luscious.

One of the things you did that helped was keeping the car out of the direct sun as much as possible, using daylight as your lighting source. It DOES have a touch of a blue tint to the red and having the red painted metal from the doors and hatch inside is nice indeed.

Thanks for sharing!

Enjoy your Prima indeed!

Congrats, and nice pics.  I wonder why your car has the Continental tires while mine (non-PE Sport) got the Pirellis.  My understanding was that the Conti's were for Pop and Lounge, and the Pirellis were for Sport models.  I guess we'll find out soon whether all the PE's got Conti's, or if it's something more random.

I am not surprised at any of the chaos, If my Prima shows up at Fiat of Hartford tomorrow I cant take delivery , The dealer doesn't have The FIAT franchise added to its Dealer License yet to Sell FIAT, its being processed and since the CT DMV take about 6 months to process a Vehicle Title. Great

Great job, Sam, I think you covered the bases well.

What a rich red! Exactly what I had hoped for.

I'm not sure what the deal is with the tires, but I do remember that the spec sheet said the Sport would be equipped with either the Pirellis or the Contis. Maybe it's regional?

I checked the feature availability sheet Chris had posted just now as I thought it said the brand (BSW until I realized just what that meant) and it says 185/55R-15 black sidewall (BSW) all season touring for the Pop and Lounge, the Sport is shod with 195/45R-16XL all season Performance. Dunno but it could be a regional thing or a supplier thing where they use 1 or 2 or so more suppliers for tires but when I went to look at the Perelli's, I got conflicting info from the Pirelli site and from other sites, such as Fiat's and then see pics saying the Pirelli's were all seasons while Pirelli site says they are summer tires or some such and that has left me baffled.

Don't see the Pirelli's listed in the size the Fiat requires but DO see the Conti's listed however over on the Tire Rack, Discount tire didn't even HAVE Fiat listed as yet.

The Contis are good tires, thought the Pirellis look cool.

Probably whatever they have on hand the day the car is built

WOW - congratulations on getting your car. I know a lot of people here has expressed frustration because the roll-out of the PEs hasn't gone smooth or that some non-PEs were allowed to be bought and driven off the lot first, but you got to admit the car is still very much a limited edition - very unique and for that reason will hold value.  No one in the future is going to know if someone drove off a lot with a non-PE or care - the point is it is unique.  And speaking of that, boy, I can't believe all the attention you are getting in the car.... it is making me think about the alarm issue again.  Was/is Lojack offered when you order your car or you did this after market?  Beautiful pictures!
