My understanding is that the PE comes with 'Blue and Me' Hands free communication, but is not set up for the Tom Tom Navigation, a we're receiving them from the factory. Anybody know if it would be an available dealer-added option, and what it might cost? Or, if maybe other popular portable GPS brands can plug into and be compatible with this system?
Also, is the compact spare tire available from dealers, and how much $$$?? (I don't think it comes with the PE). Thanks, Alvon

I think the spare does come with the Sport and Lounge but is an option on the Pop. They all come with a tire repair kit.
The Tom Tom I understand can be added by the dealer and it looks like they have to put a hole in the top of the dash. I'm not sure I want to be the first one with a dealer install. |
Mike, According to the quick glance feature list Chris posted in the blog itself, the space saver spare is an option on ALL trim levels and is mounted under the car and can be lowered from inside the rear cargo area through the floor. I believe the spare is $100 or so. The car does come with a tire repair kit, an actual tire pump with sealer along with jack and tools and all reside under the driver's seat according to the smart phone app. |

I'm not sure if this has been posted somewhere yet, but here are the accessories available for the 2012 500's

You're my hero! I don't think this has been posted. I wanted the tow hitch receiver to tow my old 500 to events. Of course, I'll bet this is the same one used in europe which does tow small trailers up to 2200 lbs which this car is rated for but they say this one can't be used for towing. I'll have to check further. Thank you. |
I remember seeing somewhere else that the tow hitch is only to be used for carriers and not for towing.

Thanks. Quite a few things there, but no mention of compact spare tire or Navigation system.

Thanks for posting that pdf, that is an excellent resource. I know a lot of people are anxious for those Mopar heated seats. 3rd quarter 2011 availability means they will be ready for the cold months. Nice choice of wheels and colors. OEM-style wheels are always my favorite. ParkSense available on non-lounge models is nice to see. Ambient lighting sounds neat as well. |
I thank you as well Paul, I see some items I'd like to get for my car.

Thanks Paul, once my PDF woke up and downloaded it, I have it printed out. Some interesting stuff although I'd love to see images of the wheel offerings but DO like the wheels that are on the sport to begin with. Nice to know one CAN option out their sports with manuals with heated seats if they wish. Now, that alarm, I want it, but don't want it bundled with sat radio, can that indeed be had separately? Also, can one buy the spare tire separately too? I may get the mud mats for winter use and get a tote for the rear area to keep things corralled while driving spiritedly |

Looking at accessories for the European 500, they show the TomTom with just a windshield suction mount. I'd guess ours may be the same. |
There were two 500s at the Philadelphia International Auto Show. One was the Mopar "accessory car" - black with blue accents. The other red Sport had the TomTom mount in the dash - took us a while to figure out what it was for. It's a deep (2-3") hole with a spring-loaded cover built in surrounded by a black plastic bezel approximately US Quarter-sized and is just to the right of the gauge pod on top of the dash. I'll try to dig up photos I took of it.

I agree, my gut feeling is that it will be a suction cup kind of mount, I just don't see them cutting a hole in the dash and making a dock like a stock unit.

I think it's too easy to have a special tool to make the hole or replace the top of the dash with one that has the mount. There needs to be a reason to pay a Fiat dealer more for a Tom Tom than getting one at Best Buy or Radio Shack.
It would be factory and have a cleaner look. |
TomTom makes only one model that interfaces with Fiat's Blue & Me that is also in some Alfas. The TomTom does much more than navigation. It will display phone calls and your music. Then, instead of having to touch it, you can navigate it using the steering wheel controls. It is a very integrated device. Oh, I think it can also show you driving habits ala Fiat Eco Drive. The mounting stalk provides power. The communication with the car happens through Bluetooth.
