@LinNE: Absolutely with you on the dash! I think people are hesitant about the color because it stands out more than others, but I think police officers are more concerned with driving behavior than the color of your car. There are quite a few articles about this online. Personally, I am not particularly partial to red cars (never really thought I'd own one), but the more I look at the FIAT rosso, the more I like it.
Also something to consider: Matching painted brake calipers, and matching 500 rim detail = pretty amazing. Still a fan of the grey though. Tough call!

The bianco color isn't white enough to my tastes.

So with the Prima, we now know that it will have "graphite" dash. What does that mean? BTW, I doubt changing the dash panel would be hard or expensive.
We still do NOT know which of the two reds or two whites are on the Prima. I note some like the brighter (brilliante) and some (like me) prefer the darker red (rossa). Sam

You're absolutely right, though keep in mind that the email said "Graphite Instrument Panel Bezel." We still have little information on the actual colors, or what many of these features mean.
Guess all we can do is wait!

True, What does Fiat mean by "bezel?"

I sort of figured it would be. The colour chi ice for the Prima Edizione was given specifically as "rosso, bianco, or grigio", and, lo and behold, these are indeed three of the colour choices in the configurator.

I finally saw the red, grey, and white yesterday at the auto show, and I must say that they are all quite good looking. White looked good (very crisp), but definitely not for me. Red was brillante, which gave the car some nice depth (I actually liked it a lot) but I realized that aside from the metallic shimmer, the two reds are essentially the same hue. Looked fun and sporty. The grey looks incredible, and was probably my favorite exterior.
However, with the dark sport interior the red dash looked pretty amazing. Sitting in the driver's seat just put a big smile on my face, and that's kind of what this car is about, right? So, right now I'm about 70-30 for the red. I'm really looking forward to some Prima pictures to help me finish making up my mind! And a question for all you proponents of ROSSO over ROSSO BRILLANTE ... Why?

I like the clean, pure look of the solid deep red. Like most Ferrari's, Alfas and Porsches. Just A personal preference.

Is bianco the off white or the bright white?

Just a guess, but I think it would be sold, basic (not metallic) white

Bianco is a fairly bright basic white finish.
Strange that I'm coming back to this after so much time, and being 90% sure that I was going red, but now I'm back to 50-50. I really hope we get to see more pictures of the Prima Edizione in all three colors soon. Maybe along with some of the PE details we got in the email... It's a shame grey is such a common color in LA, since it'd be nice to have this little 500 pop more. Still think it's an incredibly understated, and elegant color for the 500, and I might get over wanting a red dash. Somehow red still seems so much more timeless. I can't decide!!!

I didn't order the Prima, no cash etc to get one and I want to custom order my Fiat if I decide to get one in the end.
I have to admit, I love what I've seen so far of the car via the internet, the real test is seeing one in person early next year and test driving it. That said, I rather like the red, if you look at the photos taken by several who went to the LA auto show, or the premier the day before, you can get a better sense of the colors available via the pictures. That said, I don't like gray, unless its a non metallic gray (almost never seen anymore), such as putty or similar with perhaps a coral like red, like the 57 or 58 VW's had, and it was a 2 tone color scheme, where as the gray is used as an accent color say but by itself, not so much and I dislike white as a car color for it reminds me of appliance white and I had a white car once, a '78 Fairmont and the car sucked big time in many areas, but mostly in performance (a major lack there of), thankfully it had a nice blue vinyl interior so it was pleasant, but not me. So I lean towards red and I like the russo brilliante that we see at the top of Chris' blog, it's very nice but the regular Russo is slightly darker I think but still more or less the same shade of red. I like the blue they offer, but would love for Fiat to reintroduce the Cha, Cha, Cha Azure blue as it's a perfect light blue, a color I rarely see anymore and have always liked, otherwise I might go with yellow if not the red... |
