I will ask Fiat when I call them. Honestly, I don't know when that will be--will try to do it today. My thought is that if you pass on the Prima, the dealer distributes it. Fiat, of course, will not want to eat the cost of transporting it again but would do just that if they simply pass it on to the next person on the list (unless that person is nearby). I don't know exactly where mine is, but my guess is Belvedere, IL. You should reply to this post or PM me with your dealer details and any relevant info. I saw the Rosso Brilliante when I test drove--it is a little too shiny for me. It is more expensive than the plain Rosso because there are 4 coats of paint. It has a shimmer/reflectivity in bright light. I would rather walk than drive an automatic--especially the 500. However, I can see how *most* Americans will drive the automatic. Maybe it's a regional thing, but around here, it's almost impossible to find a car with 5-speed; which I find odd, as we are a snowy state (WI) and I find manuals easier to drive in the snow. An informal poll of my neighbors this weekend revealed that nobody has a 5-speed, and only 4 or 5 (of about 35) can even drive one. I told them I used to drive an old pickup truck a long time ago for a landscaping company that was "3 on the tree" and they had no idea what I was talking about! |
Sent you an email with the particulars.

Just a follow up to this-- it wouldn't have made any difference if I were able to have my Prima shipped over to you--I found out that Fiat screwed up my order (hard to believe, right?) and built me one with the sunroof! What a bunch of....
|
What a mess. Well my dealer called me and said they got delivery on a non-roof Rosso PE and the customer was wavering. They thought they'd know by this weekend and if he walks, it's mine if I want it. Meanwhile I'm also qustioning the value of a PE and a big piece of me wants to wait to see other colors as well as check out the Lounge but maybe just order a base Sport with a spare tire as the only option to save $1,400 upfront and minimize depreciation. I'm under no illusion that the PE will hold value any more than any other 500. I can live without automatic climate control and an alarm ( I can sit in my SRT8 if I want that) which is pretty much all the extra content in the PE other than decorations by my reckoning. Need to see the cars. \ Now if I could just get away from work for an hour to go see the car....

Hi all, well finally got the "semi" official call from my dealer. I say "semi" official as they are not quite sure if the DMV here in CA will give them their license just yet. Since my dealer, Chris Baker Fiat, will be the only up and running dealer in the San Diego area, seems that they will get it soon.
I was told that they might have the license ready by 2pm today. But we shall see if that holds true. But either way I will get a call around 2pm today, just so I know what is going on with the whole process. Didn't know that it was so difficult to get such license...but then CA's DMV is still on work furlough. Perhaps they can't spare the people to do it. Oh well I would love to get in a buy the car today, but it is looking like tomorrow will be a better day. But we shall see, either way I will have some pictures. Joel #366 |

Boy, just thinking, given that the plant is probably running full steam, they are going to have to find places to ship/store all these cars? Or, maybe the positive there is they could slow production and knock out some of the bugs being reported to better ready for the full blown summer launch?
BTW, Really nice video on Facebook of Criswell of Gaithersburg of a Mocha Lounge with a nice tan interior and inside facia, you have to scroll down a ways...I guess the Lounge seats are a little nicee than the Pop? I wonder if the seat upgrade is a available in the POP? Neat Stuff... |
I didn't see a video, but I did find these photos (starting here); is this the one you mean? Very nice color and interior (just 'bleh' on the automatic). Here's a Pop. I like these seats as well, but it seems the cloth seats in the Lounge are aesthetically more pleasing...aesthetics being subjective, of course. And it's manual! |
Yes, 120039 etc thanks for the reply..there is a video, just checked still there...
You know, those seats on the Pop don't look too bad, i like the two tone at least, same facia/bezel too, and I agree with you on the manual/stick thing...would be the way to go on these, been a while since I drove a stick for sure. Auto would, to me would take all the fun out of pushing the revs, etc... very good |
back on topic.....OPENED FIAT DEALERS: O'Brien FIAT in Greenwood Indiana. they opened March 1st and are the FIRST FIAT Studio to open in Indiana.
they're located in the Greenwood Park Mall, near the entrance to Johnny Rockets. their hours are 10am to 9pm, Monday thru Saturday. due to Indiana 'blue' laws, dealerships are not allowed to be open on Sundays, BUT one can check out the 500s as you stroll through the mall.
