YES, after seeing the car in person on Saturday, I am getting excited!

What is really cool is that we are part of history of sorts...I have always looked back at the past & wished I had paid better attention-this time I am paying attention and enjoying it!

Yea, finally a bit more official Fiat news and information.  Now if only they would video our particular car being made.  I know that my friend who is a MINI owner got to see his car being made at certain points, and his car was made in Oxford, England. I don't see why we can't have this type of information, seeing as we are the ones who will make or break Fiat and their reentering of the US car market.  If nothing else have some kind of minute by minute tracking information...you know like UPS and FedEx.  That way we can all be informed when we might get our cars in the near future.  Just thinking, you know.

It is one of the reasons I started this site. So we can all come back here and "remember when".

Chris I can't make it out (old eyes) but are those signatures of the workers on the sheet metal of that car?  It appears to be writing of some kind...

If so, it kind of reminds me of the personal computer, the Amiga 1000.  Each of the staff had their signatures embeed in the underside of the plastic computer top.

On my 850 spider I found some writing on the interior sheet metal, but they were assembly notes and paint color names like "giallo" or "rosso".  Wha are these?

I just love how your site always has the latest and best info.  Keep it up!

Some of the writing seems to describe the build order of the car. I also see a date: 12/14/10

Good chance these are early run sheet metal stampings and the marks are the review identifiers for the various imperfections and problem areas that need to be worked out before going into full production.

BTW I did not get this email either.

Hi Gavin & others;

I spoke withg Lori at the Fiat info line about 20 mins ago and asked that question about the bezel( the part around th espeedo?)  She said yes and that the panel going across the lengh of the dash is color keyed with the outside color.  I hope this helps everyone out.  I asked that question awhile ago and was told the same thing.

I asked the same thing and got the same answer.  We all want the body color dash, and I think Fiat knows that. A dashboard, to me, is not a Bezel, but you never know what Fiat is thinking.

Yep, that's what I'd assumed.  No way would Fiat rob us of the most defining aspect of the interior! :P
