Well, I'll tell you what. It's a simple piece of plastic. If they did put graphite in I'd swap it out for body color!

If they swap easy without problem with airbag etc, and if they are relatively inexpensive parts, it may become part of the fashion to keep a little inventory of a few colors on hand to swap in and out at whim. Gloss black could look good with any exterior, also white, silver, metallic brown. After-market could make some interesting ones-carbon fiber, woodgrain, psychadellic, etc.

So does that mean they changed the spec or is something else going to be graphite ? I'm glad though, was hoping for the color match.

Nothing's changed.  The "instrument panel bezel" is the bit that surrounds the gauge cluster.

Here are different shots of instrument panels just to have something cool to look at.  I asked someone a couple of days ago, I think I'll talk with him on Monday.  I'm not 100% with the ciaofiat line answer.

Although I can appreciate the sporty, unique look of the different color dash, I don't understand why Fiat would move away from its iconic matching color interior for the PEs. The vintage matching color dash, or instrument panel, or whatever we choose to call it (bezel?), is one of the first things that struck me about this car's interior, and one of the things I was (am) looking most forward to having. To be honest, deep down inside I fear that I'm being overly optimistic, and that this (as in something similar to the pictures) is what we're getting.

Hopefully I'm wrong. Or maybe I should just keep an open mind, and wait until we get more information.

Both those images are of the European model.  Notice the above photo is the Abarth and both photos feature the robotised manual gearbox.  Don't worry just yet :)

The top picture is actually the Tributo Ferrari, the bottom picture is the BEV.

The BEV will be a US version, since it will be released here in 2012 before it makes it to Europe or elsewhere. Although the picture is of the prototype which is a conversion of the euro version. It has a one-speed transmission, which is typical of EVs.

Gavin, they do have test drivers that are "regular" people that drive the cars, maybe you can apply for that. However, I think some of them put on 400 miles a day, so that might take the fun out of it! LOL

I'll take that job....nobody is putting 400 miles a day on the test electric fiat 500...
With a range of around 100 miles, I think normal city testing would be better, and I would be happy to do that everyday :)
