I think you can stick a piece of cardboard up there and get results.

If the guy wanted $300 for it I can see using a workaround. In this case we have a vendor that saw a problem, got creative and solved it for a reasonable price.

I think we need aftermarket vendors to have an alternative to the dealers for extra stuff. It keeps everybody on their toes and we win with more choices and competition.

And this is exactly why I'm doing HotFiat.com.   I was told that Chrysler / Mopar is horrible about pricing, stocking and delivering.  I guess kind of like dealing with the government.
We'll be carrying good useful goodies at a reasonable price.  Sound like this shade will fit our mission.

Does the aftermarket company have a good deal on a compact spare tire kit, with bracket, jack, lugwrench, etc.?

Here's a company that makes shades for MINIs. This is their installation instructions, with pictures:

ETA: Looks like the suction cups are inset to the fabric and are applied directly to the glass.

Alvon,

You should have the tool kit, the jack and tire kit under your driver's seat even if you don't have the spare, which is mounted underneath the car in the back due to the extra bracing and is lowered from inside with the jack handle through the cargo floor.

I believe the spare as is, is around $100 or so, might be able to get one somewhere else to fit for a bit less.

No Jack, tool kit, or tire kit is included in the PE.  Just the air compressor with a can of goop to plug up a tire leak from a pucture.  I haven't heard of anyone that has the other items on a PE.  Please let me know if you do have these items on a PE.

Doesn't it bother anybody that FIAT made the PE with all the components from sound, safety and convenience packages except the spare tire, a mere $100 upgrade item? That got FIAT a whole $5,000 of profit for the entire lot....

Must have been a real fight between the marketing folks and the accountants.

Yes, it doesn't sit right with me, but you gathered that from my other replies, I'm sure.  It would be a welcome gesture on FIAT's part to  offer to upgrade any PE's with the compact spare tire and tool kit, to be coordinated with the dealer.

Yes, I thought there would be a jack but there is only the pump and goop.

It needs a spare tire, jack and tool kit. It should be standard.
