Would I want the fogs to come on with the headlights all the time with no way to switch them off? Certainly not. But maybe with the Fiat 500 the foglight switch is not placed as conveniently and is cumbersome for people who use the fogs all the time. I'm used to always turning on my headlights and clicking the stalk outward to enable fogs if I want them on. |

Not for me. I would prefer to control them as needed based on environmental conditions, etc.. |

My vote would be as I have much the same situation with my 92 Ford Ranger as far as fog lights are concerned and the headlights, they only come one with the headlights, and I think only in low beam as well is to have them come on automatically, but leave the switch intact so one can turn them OFF if necessary. I left mine on as my headlights were crappy in so far as the beam spread/distance/intensity in low beam mode, high beam, they were fine and I think this was a complaint with the 2nd gen Rangers to begin with though don't know if that was true on later versions. And I like the idea of the express up to compliment the express down already there and I would like a function to close ALL windows and/or sunroof with one flick of the key in say, the driver's door like VW did or perhaps still do or a switch or activation of the LOCK button on the remote fob as a standard function if none are not closed to begin with. |

In case you didn't already know this, in the owners manual, it says this about the Sport Button:
1. To activate the Sport mode, press the “SPORT” button. 2. Momentarily release the accelerator pedal. 3. Press the accelerator pedal again to activate. You can find the downloadable Full Owners Manual on this forum under "Owners Manual". It's a great read.

Ian;s circuit for the MINI allowed the user to set up independently for these three things:
Fogs automatically on with headlights, or not Windows auto-up, or not Sport mode automatically at start, or not So the user is not stuck with any these things. It's programmable for any combination at any time. For example, a user could decide they don't want the fogs to come on with headlights, but they do want auto-up and sport mode default. It's programmed using existing dashboard switches, which is why it can be changed up at any time. A really elegant little device. I sure hope it can be made for the FIAT.

I knew I should have read that little book. I now have a usable sport button.
It makes a big diff to throttle response. Thanks

Hmm..so one must be driving to activate the sport button, you can't hit upon starting the car before moving?

I have just been hitting it but not paying much attention to exactly when it activates. I imagine the first time you let up on the gas after hitting it will activate it, and if in idle it will activate immediately because you are already off the gas. I think it maybe just doesn't activate if you are cruising along under load when you hit the button.

You can hit the sport button any time. All they are saying in the manual is that if you are currently pushing on the throttle, they won't change the throttle response while you are mashing on the pedal. This could be dangerous. The steering still changes if you have your foot on the gas. I've gone in and out of sport while doing 70+ along I-95 through Philadelphia. The sport mode steering can get too twichy at highway speeds on nasty uneven pothole ridden surfaces.

I actually leave it off sport mode. I don't notice a big difference in performance and the steering is sweet without it.

I've been using the sport mode most of the time. The heightened throttle response (drastically, in my opinion) and heavier steering (noticeably, certainly, but not as dramatic) make it a blast to drive around town and through exit ramps and such.
The normal mode is nice on the highway, though, for sure. It's also good if you're just looking for a leisurely drive back home, as I discovered last night. It's almost two cars in one, which is fantastic.

Hi: Just wondering what the Sport Button does on a Sport model when activated?
Thanks DennisLee |
Increases throttle response pretty dramatically, and firms up the steering noticeably.
If equipped with an automatic transmission, it changes the shift logic to a sportier setting. This is the same on all three models.

Should be called the "fun" button.

Hi Fredfrey
Nice little collection of cars... Do you happen to know where I can get a door trim for the rear doors of a 1960 Fiat 600 Multipla Thanks Rick

That happens when you shut off the ESC as well.

The sport button will not kick in until you completely release the accelerator then engage it again

When I first got my fiat a couple of weeks ago (2013 500 Pop 31K miles) I didn't notice the difference at first, but after reading about the changes and actually paying attention, I have notice a significant difference in steering and increased torque from accelerator, easier to climb hills in higher gears AND easier to let the gears control speed heading downhill which is huge and saves your brakes. all this confirmed at slow city speeds on hills, which is nice for my commute, probably actually saving gas too, and clutch by not having to shift as often. It is good that it's not the only performance mode, though, because it's much better to have it off at low gear flat driving and parking, so you don't "JUMP" around and steering is easier with it off of course. I would just rename it the HILL button, for both uphill and downhill commuting. I toggle it often, depending on my needs. Very fun and versatile little truffle burner.
