Sounds like some folks will need 17-21 days just to drive to where their car is being delivered

If my recollection is correct the cigarette lighter for the smokers option may be a lighter thats fits into the 12v auxiliary power outlet to run all those electronic gadgets we own now. Depends on how the factory handles the option.

Some of my current cars are this way.

I do not know what they do with the ashtray though.

God willing!  Yesterday my salesman (Greg Eaton at Hendrick Fiat of Cary NC - (919) 388-4555) called me after he'd "cracked the code" on his invoice list of cars coming to their studio.  I'll be getting a Rosso Sport with the Safety & Sound Package, the Safety & Convenience Package, and the "Smoker's Package".  It's in transit now and should be at the studio by 3/7 (it may even come earlier as they anticipate it being dropped off at the rail depot on 3/3).
So....is your 500 still coming 03.07 (Monday)? Nobody in the U.S. has their Primas yet, and you reported that you would be getting your non-Prima this Monday. Any news?

There will be some pretty p*ssed off prima owners if you do!

I could have one of 10 non-Prima's coming by Wed this week from my dealer. In fact i am thinking of dropping my Prima and taking one of them instead.

Per Motorvillage of LA as of 3.06.2011.

They told me today that even though they have a fair number of regular 500 sitting in a lot waiting to be delivered to them, to honor their promise to PE owners, they won't be allowed to sell (and I believe even have on site) non-PE 500s until all PEs are delivered. I frankly don't care as long as I get my car soon, but wanted to pass the info along.

Well, i had to keep quiet about it until now, but I actually picked up my car on Wednesday morning 3/9!  It got to the rail depot earlier than expected, and I was supposed to get it last Friday 3/4. However, they had to wait until they'd contacted all the Prima owners scheduled for delivery at that Studio, and had to wait to get the window sticker for the car.  It arrived at the dealer late Tuesday, and was prepped and ready for me to pick up first thing Wednesday morning.  So apparently that makes me the owner of the first Fiat 500 sold in the US - woo hoo!

They asked me to wait to post anything about it until after the first Prima sale today.  I'll start another thread with some of my initial impressions of the car, etc.  (In the meantime I tried to change my avatar to a pic of the car and me in our driveway, but i couldn't get it to crop correctly - sorry about that.)

While I am happy that you have your car, I can't help but be amused, amazed, and disgusted that Fiat hasn't even delivered all the "Primas" to the dealers but was able to deliver a non-Prima as the first one sold in the US.

At this point, I'm seriously questioning the ability of Fiat/Chrysler to get this car launched and build a brand ala MINI versus the failures of marques like Merkur, Eagle, Geo, Daewoo, Hummer, and Saturn?   I really like the car but the fiasco of getting info and actually getting my hands on the car I've waited months for is really dampening my enthusiasm.  First we were getting a 6 speed manual, then we were going to be able to make changes prior to final order, then they wanted to get the Prima models into the hand of enthusiasts before the regular models were made available.  NOT one of these things has happened.   I'm sure once I have my car, I will love it and forget all about the treatment up to this point....at least I hope that is what happens.

Well, what Fiat meant was that we will be the "Prima" in their hearts and minds!

You guys are employing a great technique to subdue the qualms of not getting our cars: sarcasm.

Speaking of which, I just finished cursing the ground I stand on because a white Fiat 500 raced past me this morning on my way to work here in Naples, FL. Funny thing is that the dealers that I've contacted in the area say they still don't have their demo cars in yet.

What is going on?..

Tuschay - where are you getting yours?  I'm getting mine in Sarasota. Just spoke to them and they have no news, but will call me when they do.  Fiat's 800 number had no news other then "a few more days" or "next week"/

fredfrey - I'm been in contact with Maurizio from FIAT of Fort Myers. He won't be charging any additional fee's and has been e-mailing me all the information he recieves (which I recieve before he does thanks to this website). In his latest e-mail he said he was speaking to a FIAT rep for a set delivery date..

I feel *slightly* bad because I may have been asking him too many questions, but I guess it's the only way to get results. :)
