Like I said, 52 now, but, here I am taking delivery of my new Fiat Spider in 1982. I'm on the left. Still have that car.

56 and counting. No Fiats, but have had a number of relatively light, fun-to-drive, cool cars: Porsche Cayman S, Lotus Elise, Mazda RX8, Mini Cooper S, Audi TT, BMW M Roadster and E30, etc. I'm an instructor for track events, but probably the only competition my 500 will see is autocrossing.

Aha... I am but 23 years old! I wonder if I'll be the youngest Prima Edizione owner...
Fun fact: I chose the number of my Fiat for my birth year

49, turning 50 in Sept.....haven't owned a cage since early 2005...6 years of scooter or bicycle riding, no matter what the weather...Luckily Albuquerque is mostly beautiful weather...but I've been on less than 4 wheels in weather I probably, definitely, shouldn't have been....
I told myself I would buy any car I wanted when I turned 50 (was thinking the Lexus sports coupe at the time...but I really wanted to be "greener" than that...then when I put solar panels up on my roof I was hoping for an electric car...but they are just a tad behind---I could get a LEAF next month, but I decided that it was a bigger car than I wanted for commuting...and just fair looking...it will be a great car, but I've waited a while, might as well get something I really want. I would buy the Fiat 500EV today...or the Volvo C30 EV...but they aren't here and so I think I will go Fiat 500, which is just insanely beautiful, and then update to an Electric car in a couple of years) The Fiat 500 is coming just a bit sooner than my 50th (though if I get the Lounge it would be just about right...but if I wait to get the 500EV I might be 51 or more....).... Ah, choices choices...If I was a bit more patient I would cancel and just go for the EV in a couple of years since that is my dream car...but heck I have no idea what the future brings and kinda hate waiting... You also might be dead in two months so enjoy life now. Get the PE, then sell or trade it when the EV of your choice is available.
|
two months? ha, i ride cageless to work everyday...in New Mexico...I could be dead later today.
yeah, leaning PE, then EV in 2 years....but the ivory upper interior and glass roof of the lounge call to me...it will come down to the wire which way I go. Gavin |

I'm 24 *gasp*.
My brother in law has a 1st generation FIAT Panda (he lives in Vicenza, IT) and loves it. I'm a huge Europhile, and having moved to LA, have decided to go for a small Euro hatch. For a really long time I was convinced that I was going to buy a MINI S, but for some reason decided to wait for the 500 to come stateside. Hope it was the right decision!

I bought a FIAT 124 Sport Spider new in 1974 ( with my own money) if that gives you some idea.

You could do both.
I have about decided to throw (fiscal) caution to the winds and take delivery of #160, which can then join my Guzzis and MINI S in the GarageMahalo. BTW, your b-i-l Italian or in the 173d? Bill

Just turned the big 3 oh. Hopefully my PE will know the way to the gym better than my last car or this could qualify as my mid-life crisis. :)

I wish I could do both, but I don't have a place to keep two new cars!! That's a beautiful MINI S, BTW.
Also, my brother in law is french, but lives and works in Vicenza. He lives about 20 minutes away from the 173d base, so I see it quite often every time I visit.

I bought a 128 in 1975 and X 1/9 in 1977. I currently own a 1980 X 1/9 and am looking forward to my 500. Oh, by the way I'm 61.

Fiat 500 owners are really interesting folks! It's true when they say the car's appeal spans all decades. What's apparent is this car is for people who enjoy life, are unique and have a brightness of mind.
You are all good company to be in!

Carabinieri - Are you going to change the Union Jack to an Italian flag since you have Guzzi's and now a 500?
|
Hi everyone,
I've been watching the news unfold on this blog for months now. I'm currently 20 years old. My father owned a Fiat 500 originally in Argentina as his first car and although it isn't the first car I've had, the Prima will certainly be the one I'm keeping for unforeseable future. :) Cheers. And a big shout out to Chris for being the main and most reliable source of information for me. :) -James S. |

Actually, the UK flag was an anomaly and IHO of the MINI (tho, yes, I am well aware of its Teutonic genes.
I like flags. Started collecting them by accident when we had company from somewhere. Next thing, I knew, had MANY. Probably close to a hundred now. It's fun having company (or when neighbors have company) to fly a flag from "home." Had German guests next door a few weeks ago and thought they were going to cry when they pulled in and saw the Deutschlandfahne. Anyway, the Italian tricolore is a frequent flier, so to speak, as it's on the GarageMahalo whenever I am wrenching on one of the Guzzis or on a ride, i.e., every weekend it's one of those. And, as I said, many other opps, too. Here are a few samples. let me know if you are in Atlanta, as I can probably find one in the flag locker to please you. And, finally, to reenforce the Italian motif, here's an "Italian GPS" to assist my out-of-town Guzzisti friends to find the place! Distinti saluti, Carabinieri

I bought a '76 128 (second owner) in 1978. I loved that car, even though it did spend quite a bit of time in the shop. I've got a photo that I'll post just as soon as I can find my photo box. The ironic thing is, I bought the 128 just a few blocks up the road from the father of my new Fiat dealer. What goes around, comes around. I'll be 54 in a couple of months. P.S. John, we might well be related! |

I'm 66 years old and had a Fiat 1500 cabriot/convertible back in "the day" (late 60's)! I am looking forward to getting the 500C if its not too expensive. If anyone has any idea or guess as to how much of a premium the cost of the C would be over the regular 500 I'd sure like to hear from you!! Pls email: kmil123@msn.com
Thanks! |
