Blue & Me for both Phone audio & media via bluetooth

The Blue & Me voice recognition software that FIAT includes with the new Fiat 500 is quite good for a Microsoft product.  In Europe the symbol on the steering wheel is the Windows logo but with the shoddy reputation that some feel Microsoft deserves and the popularity of Apple phones/media players, it was wisely changed to a person speaking for the USA version. It is easy to set up and operate for all incoming and outgoing phone calls but is unable to stream the music stored on your phone via bluetooth. The option for media is the USB pug that will both charge your device and make all the mp3 files accessible. Unfortunately the MP3 menu system and display of music is quite poor.

Here is a better way to connect your Android (and presumably Apple) phone for both calls and music/GPS directions via bluetooth that will automatically lower the music when a call comes in or the GPS has a notification.

You need a bluetooth recover. I have found the BlueBridge mini-jack Rx works best. It's available on Amazon for $41.95

Plug this into your audio jack input and USB plug for power.

On an Android phone (Nexus one) you are able to choose multiple bluetooth devices; one for phone audio and the other for media.

It all works seamlessly and once the two bluetooth settings are made they will automatically connect each time you enter the car with the phone.

Good to know but do you know if it'll work for Blackberry's, especially the Storm (which is what I have although I may upgrade it this year at some point, but to what exactly, not decided as yet)?

The next time I go to the dealer to peruse the car, I will try to get the key so I can try out the voice recognition system as you can, supposidly call up your tunes if you have them filed correctly on your phone or USB device and I've hear of the scrolling bit for music is not that great.

I tend to make playlists (CD's) and play them as they are created so skipping around isn't as big an issue for me anyway as I will simply hit the file that is the "CD" and have it play that, or the master folder where all volumes of the same series are stored so it can play them all.

I wanted to have bluetooth music support, but also have the USB port available for things like charging or using a USB thumbstick for EcoDrive.   I found that the in-car USB port did not support USB hubs, so I created a solution that draws 5v power from the USB port, but also has a USB pass-through.  http://bit.ly/ZkOIZn.  This works with the Belkin F8Z492TTP music reciever.
